The cooperation program between RCSMD and GC of Hérault, on the water theme, based on the framework agreement signed between the various national and regional institutions, which define the policies of the implementation of a comprehensive management of water.

In this context, the PAD program: The support program for the decentralization, established by the RCSMD and these two partners, the RC of Aquitaine and the GC of the Hérault, includes an environmental component focuses on the improvement of rational management of water. The agency of the hydraulic basin, in partnership with The Rhone-Mediterranean and Corsica Water Agency assures the implementation of this program, as part of the framework agreement signed on May 08th, 2008, between the RCSMD, the GC of the Hérault, and 2 water agencies.

The objective is the implementation of a step integrated water resources on two pilot sites (Watershed of Wadi Arghen, and the oasis of Tiout). The approach concerns the drinking water supply of douars, the protection of the resource in water, sanitation and flood risk management.

Under the partnership agreement between RCSMD and GC of the Hérault, department of Hérault, supports regional associations involved in social and humanitarian domain.

The platform of solidarity and humanitarian Hérault (PHS34) annually organizes missions to deliver donations of equipment and vehicles (wheelchairs, computers, bicycles ...).

Support for associations, is also manifest through the allocation of minibuses for transport school children in rural areas.

Recognizing the importance of enhancing bio diversity and have a thorough knowledge of natural resources for sustainable development of territories, the RCSMD and the GC of Hérault have implemented a program of cooperation on research Agronomy, in collaboration between CIRAD, Agropolis and IAV.

In this context, a book “Atlas de l’Arganier”, clustering and results of several searches on the argan tree, has been funded by the Souss Massa Draa and the Department of Herault.
The book represents a great scientific and cultural value and underlines the importance of the argan tree as a regional product strategy for the region.

Cultural exchanges are organized every year between the SMD region and Hérault Department to make known the cultural diversity of both communities.

On the occasion of the festival Timitar in Agadir and Mediterranean days in Montpellier, artist exchanges have been organized in 2005/2006/2007.
